The best English Bangers and mash!

Bangers and mash originated in England during World War 1 and became a staple in all the colonies. As the English expats remained in countries like South Africa, it quickly became a favorite for not only the English but for the locals as well.
Delicious pork, beef or lamb sausage named a Banger are usually served with mashed potatoes and a caramelized onion gravy. Another side are usually peas or carrots, or even mushy peas. Prep and cooking instructions:

Prep time: 20 mins  Cooking time: 35 mins

1. Peel and boil potatoes till soft and ready to be mashed. Add your salt, pepper and butter or milk for a creamy mash.

2. Over medium-high heat slowly cook the bangers till nice and dark brown on the outside and cooked through on the inside.

3. Caramelize onions (2-3 large sweet onions) in the sausage drippings. Add a bit of beef broth if too dry. If you prefer a thicker gravy add a teaspoon of flour and let it cook for a couple of minutes while stirring.

4. Cook peas and carrots till soft and tender. Drain the water.  Add butter and sugar to taste to create a sugar glaze on your carrots and peas.
